Above all the 3D hyper real picture technology is what impresses the most and from a user’s point of view it seems to outweigh any down falls the TV has.

But it must be said that the stereo speakers are 10 watt per channel, which sound good but simply does not match up to the picture quality or overall appearance of this home entertainment system.  

However this should not deter you. I have a high expectation when it comes to sound quality and you may not even notice any sound distortion on very high volume whatsoever. Besides, this was easily fixed with a $49 set of plug in surround speakers which can be purchased from any good electrical outlet. With the extra wattage the whole system felt complete, ready and actually made me feel a little proud to have it in my lounge!

The Verdict

Over all this is a great TV experience. The system is attractive, provides outstanding 3D experiences, as well as when using the TV for general viewing. Yes there are one or two things that could be slightly improved on (if being ultra-critical) but nothing that should put off potential buyers.

This new model gives some great clarity when you are watching it and catches the eye when it’s switched of too, due to its attractiveness alone itwill be a great addition to your home.

When you buy a Samsung you buy quality and this is shown throughout this television with great features like clear image and panel technology. This set is also designed to reduce electricty consumption by up to 35% in comparison to last years models.

Motion, contrast and colour are all easy to operate due to the 3D hyper real video processing. What this means is Samsung’s ps50c680 makes viewing films, games and internet a great individual and group 3D experience. tip… I strongly recommend that you buy some quality speakers because bass is a little lacking when you might want to pump the volume up.

Samsung have included their ‘All Share Technology’ which gives you stream media content for those with DLNA compatible devices. With great picture and reasonable sound quality this really makes the decision on whether to buy this TV or not an easy one.

The 600 hertz technology gives very clear images, fast movements and the additional color management system is being appreciated a lot. Owing to all the facilities and the perfection present in the Samsung ps50c680, they are justifiably and undoubtedly costly T.V sets.

Today this TV home system is getting loads of appreciation from the consumers and has easily reached its niche all because of its mesmerizing features. This is largely due to its efficient operations and actually these televisions are doing wonders in terms of performance thereby making it possible for us to sit at home, munch popcorns and chips and enjoy our favourite or 3D flicks.

Can the Samsung PS50 C 680 Full HD plasma 3D TV match the picture quality of its bigger (and far more expensive) brother the C7000/C8000 model’s?

Well first off, our C680 is considerably cheaper (almost half the price) and we feel that the picture quality and facilities that this home entertainment system offers are excellent value for money, so in that respect there is no contest.

One draw back with this model is that the anti reflective coating is not as good as the more expensive models, though this has to be expected in this price bracket….

Tip…. check out the setting option ‘Cell Light’ if you will be using the system in a bright room during daytime.

The Samsung C680 is not packed with all the dynamic media functionality that its bigger brothers boasts but does include Allshare (DLNA), USB and Wi-Fi via a USB dongle. The DLNA functionality is very good and will support most of the formats out there.

If you do use wireless DLNA streaming you can purchase a Wi-Fi dongle for the Samsung C680 which inserts into one of the USB slots at the back of the system..

The sound quality of the C680 is reasonably good though on higher volume it would be nice to have a little extra bass (just a personal request really.)

This system comes with a decent four legged aluminium look stand that is coated but contains metal pillars inside, this helps the TV to stand firmly and is a nice improvement on some of Samsung’s previous models.

Overall I would say that for the price of this TV system it is good value. Yes the picture quality doesn’t quite match that of the 8000 model but what do you expect for a TV that is so much cheaper. The 3D works well at all angels and proves to be a big selling point as 3D is becoming more popular with each new day.

The PS 50 c 680 has a huge amount of features that include networking capabilities that allow you to make the system into a entertainment hub. It will play DivX and MPEG movies, JPEG photographs, MP3 music either USB sticks-portable MP3 players but amazingly this T.V also runs directly form your PC or laptop or SLNA compatible devices. What this basically allows is a large media collection (that is on your home computer or laptop) to play on your TV through your home network!

Alongside this the TV lets you gather recent news headlines, sport news, weather reports, stocks and shares information all from the web (provided you have internet connection) and will allow you to view internet TV from outside sources such as You Tube.

This is much more than a television set. It boasts superb, intelligent performance, great functionality and is an all round great entertainer.
